OUR FOCUS

We use multiple modalities to treat a broad range of food, gastrointestinal (GI), and metabolic-related diseases, including biologics and immunotherapy for the treatment of allergic conditions, because we’re dedicated to advancing science and technology platforms for every challenge.

Focus Areas

Allergies

The global prevalence of allergic disease has risen dramatically over the past 50 years, with up to 40% of the world’s population affected by at least one condition, including asthma; rhinitis; anaphylaxis; allergy to food, drugs, or insects; eczema; and urticaria (hives) and angioedema.1

  • Among school-aged children, the rates of sensitization to one or more common allergens is approaching 40-50% worldwide.1
  • More than 30 million people in the U.S. currently live with food allergies.2

GI and Metabolic-Related Diseases

We focus on helping patients with GI and metabolic-related diseases who have few or no treatment options. Some of our therapeutic areas of focus include:

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI)

  • Up to 80% of people who've had surgery on their pancreas, stomach, or upper small intestine will develop EPI. Patients with EPI must take Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapies (PERTs) at every meal/snack to ensure proper absorption of nutrients.3

Clostridium difficile (C. diff)

  • C. diff is the number one most common microbial cause of healthcare-associated infections in U.S. hospitals and costs up to $4.8 billion each year in excess healthcare costs for acute care facilities alone.4

Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEMs) - including phenylketonuria (PKU)

  • IEMs are estimated to affect one in 800 to one in 2,500 births and place a significant burden on both the patient and family. 5
    • There is a one in four chance of having a PKU infant when both parents are genetic carriers.5
